Santa Catarina’s Economy

Santa Catarina is the most prosperous axes of development in Brazil (Urban Systems Consulting 2015 Survey), with economic diversification, high human development index, high-quality technical work force, culture of European origin and one of the most qualified logistics networks among Brazilian states.

 

With six million inhabitants, it differs from other Brazilian states by its lack of metropolis. The largest city, Joinville, has a population of 600 thousand people.

 

The sixth largest economy among the 27 Brazilian states, the processing industry is the country’s fourth largest in number of companies and fifth in number of employees, according to FIESC.
